The State of the Arts
Florida, Sunshine State, 'land of flowers.' Visions of paradise. A place that exerts a powerful hold on our imaginations. Each new wave of immigrants from the 1500s to the present has carried to Florida a dream of a new life in paradise. These visions have shaped the history and culture of Florida.
Miami, Key West, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach. Sarasota, Tampa, Orlando, and Daytona Beach. Jacksonville, Tallahassee, and Pensacola. Bright sun. White beaches. Rolling hills. Lush farmland and unspoiled nature. Florida is familiar, but much of it is undiscovered and invites exploration.
Rich history preserved in small towns and urban cultural centers. More museums and performing arts centers than any other state. From pop culture to high art, Florida hums with creative energy. Florida is a feast for the senses all year long.
Organized into eight themes, this website offers a sample of the wealth of arts,
cultural and historical resources awaiting your discovery. Explore the themes and
create an itinerary to meet your interests. As you browse through the site click on

of Museum members to visit their individual websites for more information. Come experience the 'state of the
arts.'
The Florida Cultural Tourism Marketing Coalition was formed to promote the rich and diverse cultural attractions of the Sunshine State. With major support from VISIT FLORIDA, American Express, and the Florida Department of State the Coalition created an initiative called Culturally Florida. This website is one of the results.
