County's plantation and pioneer era. The museum has an extensive local history collection of books, maps, documents, photos and postcards. Located in the 1910 Merchants Bank Building, where wealthy winter residents did their banking, hand-painted murals depict early Florida history.
The Historic Fire Station No.1 at the corner
of Beach Street and Orange Avenue (386-

it displays memorabilia of this part of
Daytona's history.
On the grounds of the Daytona Beach International Speedway, Daytona USA
(1801 W. International Speedway Blvd.; 386-947-
6800) offers a close-up look at the history and
sport of auto racing. There's an IMAX theater
and interactive exhibits and a great restaurant. Next door is Volusia County's largest visitor center.
